Future vision needed for Lancing
9:56am Tuesday 17th January 2012 in News
A seafront and town centre could be set for a radical overhaul.
Town hall chiefs have been appointed to carry out research and create a vision to regenerate Lancing.
The commission, which has been paid for by Adur District Council and Lancing Parish Council, will be carried out by consultants BDP, which has conducted similar work in Littlehampton, Worthing and Shoreham.
Locals and businesses are now being asked to get involved in the project which could shape the area’s future for a number of years.
Jim Funnell, Adur’s cabinet member for regeneration, said: “Lancing needs a clear direction and action plan for regeneration and the ‘Vision Document’ will enable residents and businesses to direct where the councils’ and the private sector invest in the village in the coming months and years.”
It is anticipated that the final document will be ready by the end of April.
It is hoped the document will guide planning policies, encourage private investment and earmark certain sites for regeneration.

Lancing is a village and I'm not sure it really has a seafront apart from beach huts and an abandoned cafe

shame the RAF wont use Lancing for bombing practice.. they dont need to look to far, shoreham and worthing have lifted the bar and improved there towns.. shoreham by along mile.. sadly for lancing is at the centrepoint of parking is a quick fit and car sales area! hardly inspiring for anyone! even the ones lucky to live there!
Perhaps Shoreham & Worthing have improved, however that is exactly what they have done, improved. In order to get better, things need to improve and now it is Lancing's turn. Deal with it.
'sadly for lancing is at the centrepoint of parking is a quick fit and car sales area!' - What does this mean??
