A student feared she could be pregnant and infected with HIV after being raped by her boyfriend.

Victor Agada, 24, attacked the victim at her university halls of residence in Brighton.

He has been jailed after his former girlfriend bravely gave evidence against him in court.

Speaking exclusively to The Argus yesterday (January 17) the victim told how she had been left terrified after seeing him out on the street three times before he was sentenced.

She said: “I saw him when I was on a bus and in the street but now I can walk around Brighton again – I feel free.”

Agada, of no fixed address, was going out with his 37-year-old victim when he forced himself upon her in January last year.

His victim said: “We had kissed but not had sex.

“He knew I did not want to have sex.”

The victim said now she knew he was behind bars she could move on with her life.

She was had undergo medical tests following the rape and had to take anti-HIV tablets for a month. She also feared she was pregnant.

Agada was jailed for four years at Lewes Crown Court.
