A man wanted for questioning about a string of Sussex burglaries has been arrested following a television appeal.
Officers showed a photograph of 48-year-old Barrie Gordon Williamson on BBC Crimewatch last night.
Within hours Williamson was arrested shortly before midnight last night in Blackpool after a caller to the programme gave information about his whereabouts.
Sussex Police said it wants to speak to Williamson about at least seven burglaries in Worthing, Lancing, Brighton, Hove, Seaford and Eastbourne and several others all in the last three months of 2011.
Officers in Dorset, Kent, Norfolk, Nottinghamshire and Lancashire also want to speak to him.
Williamson was also wanted for recall to prison having broken the conditions of his release licence.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: "We thank Crimewatch for their assistance and the member of the public for that call."
It is thought Sussex Police officers will be able to interview him in the coming weeks.
