A papergirl rescued an elderly man after smoke filled his home.
The man had accidentally left a tea towel over a hob which was turned on at his home in Alford Close, Worthing, at 8am today.
The girl was delivering a newspaper and realised something was amiss. She called 999 and Worthing firefighters attended.
A firefighter said: “She did the right thing. The man was confused and had got distracted but thankfully he escaped unharmed.”
