A mother was dragged from her car and attacked by a man and a woman in front of her children.

The 31-year-old had to be treated at Worthing Hospital for a head injury after she was assaulted in West Street, Sompting.

She was pulled from her silver Vauxhall Zafira and thrown to the ground by a man who was driving a black Renault Clio.

She was also pushed by a woman who was a passenger in the Renault Clio and her car was damaged.

A 19-year-old man from Portslade and a 20-year-old woman from Southwick were later arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage.

They were questioned before being released on bail while officers carry out further inquiries.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw the attack, which happened at 5.50pm last Thursday (January 26).

PC Sarah Masters, of Sussex Police, said: "This was a frightening ordeal for the victim and her four young children who were in the car at the time of the attack and witnessed their mother being assaulted.

"The woman has since been discharged from hospital and is receiving support from investigating officers."
