Hove man arrested over 30-year-old sexual assault claims

Detectives investigating a case of sexual abuse linked to a motorcycle group have arrested a Hove man.

A 69-year old man from Hove has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault following two incidents dating back more than 30 years.

The allegations date back to two alleged sexual assaults committed against a young boy in Brighton and Havant in Hampshire in 1981.

The victim who now lives in West Sussex contacted Sussex Police last year about the incidents.

Sussex child protection detectives, who are working alongside colleagues in Hampshire Police, want to speak to anybody who was involved with the now closed Cycle Speedway Club in Havant which operated for several years in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The Hove man is on police bail until May 29 while enquiries continue.

Anyone who was involved in any way with the Cycle Speedway Club is asked to contact us via 101 quoting serial 0808 of 10/2.
