Attempted robberies in Littlehampton alleyway

Two attempted robberies took place in the same Littlehampton alleyway on consecutive days.

The attacks took place in Jay's Alley, between Cornwall Road and Hampton Fields, on Monday and Tuesday, both between 4pm and 5pm.

On Monday, two men punched a 15-year-old boy in the face after he refused to hand over cash.

They were both white and about 15 or 16.

One was about 5ft 5in, with short brown hair. He wore a grey hoody and lighter grey tracksuit bottoms.

The second was 5ft 7in, with very dark brown hair.

He wore blue jeans with a black and blue trench coat.

On Tuesday a man in his late 20s tried to rob a street cleaner as he worked.

He deliberately bumped into him, then demanded his wallet and mobile phone.

The would-be robber ran off when the street cleaner refused to hand anything over.

He was described as an Asian man with tanned skin, about 5ft 10in, medium build with short dark hair.

He was clean-shaven and may have had a scarred face.

He was wearing a dark hoody with the hood down, dark trousers and white trainers with a black stripe across the toe.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101, quoting reference WA2/011378/12, or Crimestoppers anonymously 0800 555111.
