Teenager charged with Bexhill robbery

A 16-year-old local boy has been charged with robbery and possession of a bladed article in a public place following.

A teenager wearing a balaclava entered the JJ Convenience store, in St Georges Road, Bexhill at around 4.35pm on Sunday and threatened the owner with a knife.

The robber demanded cash and cigarettes, but the manager refused to hand anything over.

When a customer entered the shop the youngster fled with a bottle of cider.

The area was searched and Sussex Police arrested a 16 year old boy on suspicion of robbery a short time later.

He is due before Hastings Youth Court today.
