Hosepipe ban planned for next month

Southern Water has announced plans to introduce a hosepipe ban in Sussex from April 5.

It will be the first time since 2006 that a ban has been imposed in the county.

The utility firm has apnnounced in a statement: "From April 5, the company is restricting the use of hosepipes and sprinklers in Sussex. The restrictions apply to customers whose water is supplied by Southern Water and primarily cover domestic, not commercial, use."

The ban will also include • Watering of public parks, gardens and allotments • Filling swimming pools, paddling pools, ponds and fountains • Any apparatus connected to a hosepipe.

South East Water has also announced plans for their own hosepipe ban, also from April 5.
