Well i think its a great idea to let people have a say what the theme is,thats why the last organisers went wrong they forgot it was brighton and hoves pride IT LOST ITS SOUL,now i hope we will actually see brightons gay scene involved again as they were excluded last year.
It is so simple to exclude the Gays, just ask them to buy a ticket."

Brighton and Hove Pride theme ideas flood in

The emergency services, the Olympics and stars of the silver screen are all in the running to be the theme of this year’s Pride festivities in Brighton and Hove.

Ideas for a theme for this year’s Pride have been flooding in since the competition was announced in The Argus last week.

Other suggestions include rock n roll, the musical We Will Rock You and I Will Survive, based around the Gloria Gaynor anthem.

Ian Chessum from Shoreham, who suggested the I Will Survive theme, said: “This is a gay classic and seems so relevant to what has happened to pride over the years.

“When we first started there were a few of us walking along St James’s Street and having a picnic at The Level. Over the past few years Pride has lurched from crisis to crisis but is still here.”

Entrants have until midday on Thursday April 5 to send in their ideas.

The final two themes will be announced in The Argus on Tuesday April 10 after being picked by a panel.

Argus readers will then vote for the one they want to see as the Pride theme this summer with the winning theme announced on Friday April 13.

To enter email your idea in 250 words or less to competitions@theargus.co.uk with PRIDE in the subject header and including a name and contact number.
