Dizzee Rascal has been announced as headliner at this summer's Shakedown Festival happening in Brighton's Stanmer Park happening on Saturday, October 6 2012.

The first name announced for 2012 Dizzee Rascal will headlines the main stage. The showman whose who fuses Grime, House, Hip-hop, and Pop will be driving the crowd Bonkers with hits including Dance Wiv Me, Holiday and Dirtee Disco.

Shakedown Festival returns to Brighton for a second year. The Argus is media partner for the event which is set to bring some of the most exciting names in contemporary music to the UK's party capital. Further acts will be announced next month.

Dizzee said: "Been a while since I last played in Brighton. Looking forward to Shakedown, it's gonna be massive this year!"

Festival organiser Steve Jones added, "We're hugely excited to be bringing Dizzee back to Brighton - he's been away for far too long! Aside from his upcoming new album, watching thousands of people jumping in unison to 'Bonkers' is going to be something pretty special and the perfect way to close an incredible day of music."

Green councillor for Hollingdean and Stanmer Christina Summers said: “We are very happy that the event will be held again within the wider context of events at Stanmer Park.

"Stanmer is arguably one of the most gorgeous parks in the city and this event will help in securing it as a jewel of Sussex.”

The organisers of the festival hope to build on a successful first year which saw more than 9,000 revellers enjoying acts such as Razorlight, Ed Sheeran and the cream of Brighton’s live music scene.

A limited number of early bird tickets are now sale at 2011 prices until 11am on Monday, 2nd April. Tickets will be priced £40 from this date onwards.
