Three men were last night being questioned by police after a cannabis factory was discovered by firefighters.

An electrical fire broke out in the front bedroom of a house in Bevendean Crescent, Brighton, shortly after 7.30am yesterday.

The flames spread to another bedroom, damaging both rooms.

When crews brought the fire under control they found 30 cannabis plants.

An East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said they and Sussex Police were investigating the incident.

A police spokeswoman said officers were called to the house by fire crews shortly before 8am.

She said: “A small electrical fire was discovered in one of the rooms and quickly extinguished.

“About 30 plants were recovered from the premises and scenes-of-crime officers remain at the scene.” Three men aged 51, 45 and 44 were arrested and taken in for questioning on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis.

Putting out the fire was delayed while the fire crews went to the local garage for mars bars and cakes. A spokesman for the fire brigade said "the fire was really cool man, amazing colours"

seriously though if cannabis laws were abandoned and people could grow or smoke where they wished these dangerous setups would become obsolete and people would all be safer

At least the house got a clean. I've lived with loads of pot heads and they are always too tired to clean up and why do they smell like old ladies' bungalows.

i heard thier was a professor living thier who was developing graviola plants which are the cure to cancer. 10000 times stonger than chemotherapy with no effects on healthy cells , also i was told the fire was put out by the occupants before fire brigade arrived as the hippy was away on vacation so the firebrigade and no hoses were used offically as it was hosepipe ban ... and only one corner of one room was burnt .... amazing what people believe really , if thier was any good plants in thier thats what you would see in the photo but you dont cos they got a crap haul, the picture tells it all
