Update: A man struck by a lorry this morning has died.

The cyclist, an adult male from Bexhill, has been airlifted to a London hospital. It has just been confirmed he has died.

The collision took place on the A259 De La Warr Road shortly after 7am.

The road is closed between Brett Drive and King Offa Way.

A man is in custody for failure to stop.

A witness said: “There were lots of people around. It is bedlam at the moment”

A Sussex Police statement said: “De La Warr Road in Bexhill is currently closed following a collision.

“The road is closed between Brett Drive and King Offa Way.

“Shortly after 7am a collision took place between a cyclist and lorry.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 173 of 12/4.
