Three boys arrested following serious assault in Rottingdean
8:59am Sunday 15th April 2012 in News By Siobhan Ryan
A man is fighting for his life in hospital following an assault last night.
Sussex Police have arrested three boys, two aged 14 and one aged 13, in connection with the incident in Rottingdean.
The victim, who is 19 and from Brighton, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital suffering from head injuries and remains in a critical condition this morning.
The boys were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and are still in custody.
Police say that sometime between 10.30 to 10.55pm a row took place between two groups of people in West Street, Rottingdean.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick May of Surrey and Sussex major crime team said: "We believe the victim has been punched during this assault and the force of the blow has caused him substantial injuries.
"This incident took place between two different groups and some members of each group were known to each other.
"The scene is currently cordoned off while we investigate the circumstances and I would like to thank local residents for their patience and understanding at this time."

Maybe this was a case of self defense? any one thought of that, and they are NOT from Whitehawk, but from another estate and what makes Rottingdean such a GOOD area there is trouble everywhere nowadays, just because its a sleepy village does not mean to say that idiots dont live there, feel sorry for the person assaulted and also his family who I know from experience will be going frantic with worry, I wish him a speedy recovery, but also we do also have to pity the boys that have been accused of doing this, they will have to live with this for ever, when will the government and the police force in this country get together and start to do something about this ONE PUNCH CAN KILL culture that infects the UK, Australia have done something about it and its working, so why not here ????????

sorry dis- agree have been campaigning about this since my son was a victim, (he died) and this government and the last dont give a ****, mps jump on the one punch can kill bandwagon to get publicity but do they actually do anything NO, and the police are just as bad, they could launch a campaign make people aware of the damage that can be done with one punch but do they NO they do not...if there was a concerted campaign launched by authorities then more would be aware and maybe just maybe something would start to happen,,,,,

In schools, at home....everywhere and from childhood, people have to learn that ONE PUNCH CAN KILL.
And that if a punch to the head is taken it really should be considered as a move to get a kill result. And punished as that.
Why do people aim for the head? To do harm.

so MPs and police personal just ignore it then, good thinking mr... ok families have to be responsible for their children but the authorities also have to take responsibility, if they do nothing to deter or punish this type of crime, what chance do we stand, the act is a senseless one. and the people who carry it out should be punished, take a life then you get life not 40 months, and let off in 18, dont tell me about this idiot,
