There may indeed be some extreme fascists among those walking but most I'm sure are just trying to make the point that flying the George cross or union flag is the right of every English person and Briton without being labelled a racist.

So EXACTLY where do you stand on todays march then ? A march carried out by the fascist right heckled by the looney left. That's it. We would have liked to hear more, to make up our own minds about what their agenda was, but they were shouted down and stifled by the anti's. The anti's seem to believe that we are not capable of making our own minds up, that their voice is the only voice, and that because they don't agree with what they believe is at the core of the marchers' agenda, that they should not be allowed to speak! Now THAT is fascism!!!

We were standing alongside two Muslims along the barriers in Victoria Gardens, who we engaged in conversation with, and they held the same view as we did... that it's all about freedom of speech, which the marchers were being denied. We wanted to hear, with our OWN ears, what they had to say, but it never happened. If their agenda is indeed a thoroughly intolerant and hateful one, then they will hang themselves when they open their mouths. What the anti's were doing was completely defeatist, as all they managed to accomplish was to martyr the marchers, and demonstrate intolerance themselves. Now THAT is where the real danger lies. If they are not allowed to speak their purported hatred and nonsense, then their agenda remains silent, and the disaffected will flow en masse to the far right because they never have the opportunity to see that ugly side, if indeed it does exist. I say "if", because I didn't get the chance to hear with my own ears. Forgive me, but I like to make my own bloody mind up, and not have an opinion forced down my throat by arrogance!

Andy R for you to claim that "the city turned out" and that they were "harried all the way by thousands" flies in the face of the facts, it is clearly yourself who is delusional. We had heard that there was going to be some sort of rally at Victoria Gardens, with opposing sides giving speeches, which is what we were most interested in. There has been so much "speculation" about March for England, i.e. that they are part of the EDL, that they have a racist agenda, that their only goal is to spread racial hatred. We wanted to hear for ourselves what they had to say, just as we listened with interest when Nick Griffin spoke on Question Time (or at least "tried" to speak when he wasn't being shouted down).

Let me say right now, we are not right wing or racist in any way. I am white and my husband is black, and our children are mixed race. We are all about inclusiveness and do not see skin colour. We believe in free speech and the freedom to pray/live however you wish, as long as you do not force your views down others throats. PEACE AND TOLERANCE.

As far as we could see today, the real fascists were the anti's that turned up to heckle the marchers. Shouting them down, obstructing their passage, throwing eggs, trying to deny them their freedom of speech and their freedom to protest peacefully. Whilst many will claim that the protesters were aggressive, I can say that we followed the march from Brighton Station to Victoria Gardens, and all that we heard coming from them was ENGERLAND chants. That's it. We would have liked to hear more, to make up our own minds about what their agenda was, but they were shouted down and stifled by the anti's. The anti's seem to believe that we are not capable of making our own minds up, that their voice is the only voice, and that because they don't agree with what they believe is at the core of the marchers' agenda, that they should not be allowed to speak! Now THAT is fascism!!!

We were standing alongside two Muslims along the barriers in Victoria Gardens, who we engaged in conversation with, and they held the same view as we did... that it's all about freedom of speech, which the marchers were being denied. We wanted to hear, with our OWN ears, what they had to say, but it never happened. If their agenda is indeed a thoroughly intolerant and hateful one, then they will hang themselves when they open their mouths. What the anti's were doing was completely defeatist, as all they managed to accomplish was to martyr the marchers, and demonstrate intolerance themselves. Now THAT is where the real danger lies. If they are not allowed to speak their purported hatred and nonsense, then their agenda remains silent, and the disaffected will flow en masse to the far right because they never have the opportunity to see that ugly side, if indeed it does exist. I say "if", because I didn't get the chance to hear with my own ears. Forgive me, but I like to make my own bloody mind up, and not have an opinion forced down my throat by arrogance!

It was all a joke, and as has been pointed out, it was just two groups of fascists clashing, except one was shouted down by the other, through numbers, so we never really learned what their true agenda is. 1st that crowed of baying thugs were not all from Brighton and yes there were people on the March for St. George who do not live in Brighton ether, however I am local and I do remember when I was younger and taking part in Hunt sabs when the huntsmen told us we had no right to protest because we were townies but that did not stop people like you and me going out in to the countryside and sabbing the hunt, also how many people come from outside of Brighton to protest at the Smash EDO Demos?, Andy R you are not only a Neo Nazi/Fascist in sheep’s clothing but also the worst kind of hypocrite, you want freedom of speech but only for you.

The amount of people who came to Brighton today to demonstrate were bussed in at the expense of the fascist organisation Unite Against Fascism, (Sir Winston Churchill said “The next Nazi’s will manifest themselves as Anti-Nazi’s) and he was right 100%, this organisation is funded by the British Government and by Islamic groups.

After the demonstration was over a family who were on the march and who had young children in buggies was attacked on the sea front and this was captured on CCTV, I witnessed this myself and I went to their aid and even though the attackers 2 Black and about 6 white) were aware that I am disabled they attacked me and only stopped when the police turned up.

The people who came to Brighton to demonstrate against this peaceful March for St George never demonstrate about anything in its own right, they only counter demonstrate and by doing so cost the authority’s millions of pounds, It is high time the police stopped these counter demonstrations otherwise soon someone will be killed and then the gloves will come off and the police will no longer be in control of the situation.

Today a child could have been seriously injured or even killed by a cowardly thug hiding in a crowed of baying thugs, if this dose happen there will be a blood bath, the likes of which this country has not seen since the last civil war.

You conveniently don't mention that 'the family' was one of a group of about 15 male, hardcore nationalists who had left the Mfe 'rally' (which oddly never got round to making any speeches), and had no alternative but to wander the seafront antagonising strangers.
I don't care whether you are local or not. Sunday should prove that your so-called march (a moving kettle would be a better description) isn't welcome in the town. Find somewhere else next year.
Also this constant bleating about how the Irish, Welsh etc are allowed to celebrate their saints' days and we're not. You can but instead you choose to use it as an excuse for macho, intolerant abuse of others who don't fit your idea of 'englishness'.
I also have no doubt that the majority of those from MfE yesterday will be going to Luton for the totally provocative EDL demonstration in May.

Just because EDL didn't start here it doesn't mean what they are about isn't affecting people in Brighton already. And for the record, they weren't protesting, they were marching. It was Brighton that was protesting.

How do you know it isn't? And how do you know what the people of Brighton are thinking? A small minority protested again the march, the rest went about their daily lives. I don't think anyone here can proclaim to know what the people of Brighton want, and Sunday was not a representation of the people of Brighton.
