UPDATED: A terminally ill man who went missing from his home has been found.

Kevin Dean, 53, who has pancreatic cancer, was reported missing after last being seen at his property in Rectory Farm Road, Sompting, at about 6pm on Friday.

Police issued a plea for him to come forward at about 5pm tonight.

But a further statement at about 7.15pm said Mr Dean had been located and picked up by an ambulance crew this evening.

Police said he had been taken to Worthing Hospital to be checked over where he has been joined by his family.

Kevin, who is divorced, lives with his 21-year-old son Brad at their home.

His family said he did not appear to have taken money with him so they believed he was on foot.

Kevin was described as white, 5' 8", of slim build with receding, cropped blond hair, blue eyes and a sallow complexion.

He has a goatee beard and moustache and was believed to be carrying a black rucksack.

Police had conducted a search of the local area, which included a helicopter flying above downland at Woods Mill in Small Dole, which is a favourite spot of Kevin's north of his home.
