Brighton City College jobs to go
10:42am Wednesday 16th May 2012 in News
Jobs are to go at City College Brighton and Hove after bosses decided to focus on the most popular courses.
The Argus understands that the job losses affect staff in the Learning Development department of the college in Pelham Street.
Principal Phil Frier said he hoped the redundancies could be kept to less than 15 full-time posts.
Managers are currently talking to staff about the plans.
Mr Frier said: “The increasing impact of public funding cuts and the need to adjust our courses in response to student demand means that we have to go through our usual staff reorganisation process.
“In some areas such as apprenticeships, there is growing demand in student numbers whilst in others there is a decline.”
Mr Frier recently announced his retirement from the college. An announcement on his successor is expected in the next few days.
