Fire crews tackle Hove seafront fire

Firefighters are battling a blaze in a seafront six-storey building.

Crews were called to King’s Gardens, near Kingsway, in Hove at about 12.30pm today after a fire in a window frame.

The blaze, which started on the first floor, has now spread to the wall cavities.

Witnesses reported three fire engines, an aerial ladder and technical response unit at the scene at about 2.15pm.

A spokeswoman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue said three floors of the building were filled with smoke.

She added she believed the building had been evacuated.
