Frozen heads flown in for Brighton medical conference
1:00pm Saturday 19th May 2012 in News
Seventeen frozen human heads were imported into Sussex from the US this week.
The World Federation of Skull Base Societies and the European Skull Base Society met in Brighton this week.
The conference brought together neurosurgeons, ear, nose and throat, plastic and maxillofacial surgeons, radiologists and radiation oncologists.
They came from Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust and other centres in more than 50 countries.
A specialist course took place in the Brighton and Sussex Medical School anatomy laboratory at the start of the week, to offering training on the latest treatments and developments.
The rest of the week included round table talks, keynote debates on controversial topics, disease specific expert panels, focus groups on advances in surgical techniques and diagnostic developments.

If all they needed was cold, inactive brains, why didn't they just go along to a Council meeting?
