Portslade primary schoolgirl's dog poo crusade

A primary school pupil has had enough of dog mess in her neighbourhood and is calling on pet owners to clear up after them.

Mollie Jameson has started putting up home-drawn posters featuring a civic-minded poem around Drove Crescent Road and Drove Crescent in Portslade because she is fed up of seeing mess on her way to school.

The eight-year-old Peter Gladwin Primary pupil is hoping that dog owners will now take notice and keep the pavements clean.

Her mother Charlotte Jameson said: “She was just fed up with all the dog mess on her school run and instead of talking about nice things I keep having to tell her to look out for mess.

“She’s on the school council and she’s now thinking about issues.”

Good for her. I'd vote for her over our useless do-nothing green councillors. She deserves to feel proud. Our councillors should hang their heads in shame.

I say good for her and the offenders should clean up
Why should we have to put up with this just clear it easy!
I have exactly the same problem in my local park it's giving all us responsible dog owners a bad name. Bring back dog licences

I agree that something needs to be done. Just using a child and her walk home from school to vocalise the concerns of an adult is wrong in my view.

Bless her. The moaning minnies don't seem to think that a child can be as fed up with dog mess as anyone else. She has as much right to be hacked off as anyone. Sadly though, she is naieve. The responsible dog owners do clear up after their pets, but there is no getting through to the kind of scum who will leave it for others to tread in / slip on or cycle through.

Well done, Mollie! It is wonderful to see a young person making the effort to be responsible and encourage others to be a little considerate. If we all showed just that little bit of extra community spirit, we would find we all have a nicer place to live in. You really cheered me up - thanks!

Well done, Mollie.
When you have achieved success in this venture where irresponsible dog owners can face fines of £1,000 would you please turn your attention to the travellers and kerb-squatting vagrants who are able to defecate in all the parks and open recreational spaces within our City with impunity.
