  • "The lad who attacked my son now has a criminal record for life - and so he should - an unprovoked attack on my son whos now facing a 3rd operation - i think the thug has got away lightly compared to my son - who looks in the mirror each day and relives this attack!!!!"

Pupil seriously injured after being attacked in school

A 15-year-old school boy suffered a bleed to his brain and a fractured skull after being attacked by a fellow pupil.

The assault took place in his school, Uckfield Community Technology College in Downview College, Uckfield, at 1.30pm on Monday (21).

The victim, from Hartfield, was seriously injured after being punched in the face and falling to the ground.

The assault took place in a sports area of the school but the two boys involved were not playing sports.

Another boy, a 15-year-old from Uckfield, has been arrested on suspicion of grevious bodily harm and bailed.

A Sussex Police statement said: “Police are investigating an incident in which a pupil received serious head injuries.

“The boy is conscious and recovering in hospital from a fractured skull following an altercation with another boy.

“Police were called to the school after a report that a boy had been hit in the face and had fallen to the ground during an altercation with another 15-year old boy.

“He was initially taken to Pembury Hospital near Tunbridge Wells, and was then transferred to Kings College Hospital in South London, with serious head injuries which are not assessed as life threatening.”

Detective Inspector Rob Morland added: "This appears to be an isolated incident not involving any other pupils and we are working with the school staff to help reassure any pupils or families who may be concerned. We are still establishing what happened and any background and the enquiry is at an early stage.”
