Revellers heading to Fatboy’s big gig at the Amex have been issued travel advice to help them get home.

Gig organisers have listed a range of options for the journey home from the gigs on Friday and Saturday next week (June 1-2) including buses, park and ride, cycling and walking.

Concerns have been raised about traffic problems leaving the gig for the 23,000 fans expected to attend each night after it was revealed that Falmer Station would close before the end of the show because of safety concerns.

However, fans are being reassured by organisers there are plenty of transport options available to them with extra buses being laid on by Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company.

Fans are also being encouraged to stay behind at the stadium with the bars staying for an hour after the gig finishes at 10.30pm.

Other tips from organisers include arriving early at the ground when doors open at 3pm on both days to avoid the rush hour traffic.

Party goers not able to use public transport are also being advised to use the dedicated taxi and car drop off area and are being discouraged from being dropped off anywhere else.

Travel options

WALKING: There are excellent pathways connecting the city with the American Express Community Stadium. If you live nearby then this is the easiest way to get to the venue.

CYCLING: The Lewes Road Bike Train will be running an escorted cycle ride from The Level via Lewes Road with a further pick up point at Moulescoomb Library. There will also be an escorted ride back to The Level after the show.

TRAINS: There are services every 10 mins from Brighton & 15 mins from Lewes. Both stations provide connections along the south coast and from London. Please note that there are no late trains from either station back to London. Falmer station closes at 10pm so please ensure that you give yourself enough time to make your connecting train.

BUSES: Shuttle Buses: There will be a special Shuttle Service for BBB5 Ticket Holders which will depart from the Old Steyne in Brighton city centre and the AMEX Stadium. The Shuttle Buses will be free to all ticket holders (just show your ticket) and will run between Old Steine/Valley Gardens in Brighton (map) and the AMEX. There will be a fleet of these buses waiting as the show ends to transport ticket holders back into Brighton.

Public Buses: The no. 25 bus runs from the city centre to the venue every six mins.

No. 25 – Portslade / Hove / Brighton / Universties (AMEX) No. 28 – Brighton / Lewes (via Universities/AMEX) No. 29 – Brighton / Lewes (via Universities/AMEX) More information on these bus routes is available at buses.co.uk.

CAR PARKING: There is no free parking near the stadium & local streets will have parking restrictions. If you do wish to drive then please buy a ticket for our car parks or park & ride sites. All parking is allocated on a first come first serve basis & must be booked in advance.

Park & Ride sites are £5 per car.

Near site parking is £10 per car.

Privilege Parking is £20 per car.

The Park & Ride site is on Mill Road, conveniently near the intersection of the A23 and A27.

DISABLED PARKING: There is no charge for Blue Badge Holders for this event call 0845 873 0251 or email customer.services@bhafc.co.uk if you have a valid badge & wish to reserve a space. Don’t delay as space is limited. If you have no other option but to be dropped off or collected then please ensure that you use the dedicated area at the venue. Do not attempt to be dropped off on the A27 as you will receive a parking ticket. More importantly you will be putting yourself in real danger.

“We ask gig goers to please be respectful and patient at all times.”

Since when has the Old Steine changed its spelling ?

The Old Steine is also a large area! A *precise bus stop location* and *bus stop letter or number* would be very helpful as would be the *start times of the shuttle service* and the *finish time* for the shuttle - for *arriving* and *departing*!

Never before has so much *information* been written - which doesn't give *real information*.

I was under the impression that a proportion of the cyclepath is shared with pedestrians? How is walking v cycling going to work?

Wh is Falmer Station closing at 10pm I would have thought the have a duty of care to provide a service. Other stations near arenas surely don't close early.

Scandalous that Falmer station won't be open - surely the Argus should be investigating EXACTLY how they justify this.

there will be plenty of buses/taxis to make sure everyone gets home safe. I think the decision to close the station is a good one. The majority of people will be drunk and off their faces, the last thing you want is 23k people trying to get a train with a high majority of these worse for wear. For once it seems as though health and safety has been out first so i congratulate whoever made this decision.
I am going on the Saturday and I have no issue with walking back or getting the bus.

Moan, moan, moan - it's a wonder some of these people know how to go to the toliet by themselvs let alone get on a bus.

I don't understand why they consider it safe to allow opposing football teams at Falmer station but not this gig.

Watching people at that station is scary on match days fairly often, I think this would be better than that if anything!
