A £17 million plan to protect a coastal area from flooding is expected to draw thousands of visitors.
Workers have recently begun installing two 180-metres long rock breakwaters off the coast of Selsey, near Chichester.
More than 93,000 tonnes of granite rock are being brought in five shipments from the Larvik Quarry in Norway.
The rocks, which are up to ten tonnes in weight, will be brought ashore by a barge and then lowered into place by large diggers.
In the last stage of the work, which will finish in the autumn, the beach will be restored.
