Worthing fraudsters escape jail

Two fraudsters who cheated a council out of £15,000 between them have avoided jail.
Beverley Alolabi, 51, of Meadway Court, The Boulevard, Worthing, was found guilty of two offences of furnishing a false document and one of failing to notify a change of circumstance after wrongly claiming housing and council tax benefit worth more than £9,000.
Sheila Fernando, 59, of The Paragon, Brunswick Road, Worthing, was convicted of four offences of furnishing a false document to wrongly claim housing and council tax benefits of more than £6,500.
Alolabi and Fernando were both given a 12-month community order and told to do 80 hours of unpaid work.
