Big Beach Boutique 5 at the Amex begins

The age of music gigs at the American Express Community Stadium has begun.

Fatboy Slim's Big Beach Boutique 5 has opened at Albion's ground on the first of two events held there this weekend.

About 46,000 fans are expected to attend today and tomorrow's event as Norman Cook revives his beach party in the city after nearly four years away.

He will be joined by old friends such as Carl Cox as well as up and coming acts The 2 Bears and Nero all hand-picked by Norman Cook.

If you're going, tell us your highlights of the gig below or email neil.vowles@theargus.co.uk.

See Saturday and Monday's papers for full coverage of the event.

what an utter bunch of miserable idiots people like Wole and thucydides are... why not support something that is local - rather than a cheap snide remark.. better still move away to another part of the country that does not have events like this on (for the community). Go back to your sad, pathetic little lives and not bother others with your remarks. I understand if you do not want to go - because you are too old or too boring - that is fine.. but cut the rubbish remarks

not fussed either way about it but at least it's not clogging up the sea front .... hardly classify this as an event for the community .... it's for a very specific demographic ...

Whatever floats your boat I guess but I agree with aat99. At least it's not on the seafront this time. Trying to get back home after a few beers via a burger bar proved to be a task in it's self last couple of times he did this. Not interested in this kind of thing but at least it is out of the way from the main town centre

Planning permission only allows 2 gigs per year. Mind you, I expect that will change.

If people bother to look at The Amex Community Stadium website http://www.amexstadi
um.co.uk you will see that the stadium is not just for football or Fat Boy Slim concerts. There have been Wedding Fayres, Xmas parties, School Proms and lots of other events going on. It just goes to show why this area needed a stadium from day one. It's easy to get too, and there are great transport links. Stop moaning. Would you have preferred an incinerator or sewage treatment works shoved in it's place, like the residents of Peacehaven and Newhaven have had to put up with. Stop moaning!!

It exists only to provide chargeable services.

It would have been better if built elsewhere.

I think it would have been better for brighton an hove if instead of a stadium they had built a much needed new hospital

"Brighton Beach BOOTique 5" this time, not "Boutique" as it's at the AMEX.....too subtle for the Argus obviously ;) x
