Israel is not at war with Islam. Not all Jews are Israeli Not all Arabs are Muslim Not all Christians are WASPs Shoddy thinking lead to absurd generalisations which do very little to gaining credence for any argument.
I know that, however, EDL muppets do not think coherently. As far as they are concerned, Israels enemy is their enemy as it concerns Islam. Yes, there are many Arabs in Israel, whose treatment lately has been subject of some articles. Youre dealing with a group of football hooligans masquerading as a 'political' group. They see Israel as a force against Islam, so they support it.
Panarama's programme on anti semitism and european footall crowds was very alarming, the white supremist waxing lyrical about what Hitler had done for Germany was good. seems we as a world have learned nothing, and the EDL and smash edo marching seemly with a similar intent is worrying. Remember we has a coalition government supposedly for the common good
Smash EDO, are only too happy to criticise Israel at every conceivable opportunity but have never uttered one word of condemnation at the far bigger
loss of innocent Arab lives that have occured in Libya and Syria,Yemen, Egypt and Iraq where the Arabs murder innocent Arab civilians almost daily.

If they were genuine in their concern for innocent Arab civilians they would not restrict their criticism to that of Israel but would criticise the murder of ALL innocent Arabs by everyone including other Arabs.

That they are selective and choose to only criticise Israel (the only Jewish country in the world) shows them up in their true light!”"

Anti-arms group Smash EDO is marching through central Brighton to Hove today (June 4) over the possibility of military action against Iran.

The protesters are gathering outside Barclays bank in North Street at noon, then planning to march along Western Road to Hove Town Hall Their event is aimed at opposing “the prospect of war with Iran”.

A spokesman for the group said: “It is important that we build an anti-war movement that learns the lessons of the Iraq war in order to prevent further bloodshed.”

Previous Smash EDO events have ended in confrontations with police.

But today's demonstration passed peacefully, with no arrests.

Chief Superintendent Graham Bartlett, the Sussex Police city commander for Brighton and Hove, said: "This is the first time this group had shared their plans in an open letter to the media and I'm pleased to say it went as outlined. Police have an important role to help facilitate those who exercise their right to free speech in a peaceful way and we did that today."

Argus reporter Ben Parsons Tweeted live from the protest from noon. Additional Tweets from Sussex Police and SmashEDO, and comments from readers, are also included in the live blog below.
