She has sung for the Pope, the Queen and the US president.

But now music star Charlotte Church is set to perform for 100 fans in an old railway storeroom.

The former child prodigy is set to relaunch her record career at the Green Door Store music venue under Brighton station on August 2.

But opera fans expecting to hear the ‘Voice of an Angel’ might be in for a shock.

The star’s promoters have urged the audience to “leave any preconceptions at the door”.

A venue spokesman said: “Be amongst the first to witness the latest and most exciting reincarnation of the former child star.”

He also said she would be premiering a “bold and unique new sound”.

Her promoters promised “vast musical landscapes, with big drums and big guitars”.

And she could be joined on the bill by a hardcore metal band after a campaign was launched to create an “amazing cross-genre night of music”.

The band, called A New Way To Trust, said they would donate hundreds of pounds to Cats Protection if the star’s management allow them to support her at the gig.

On social networking site Facebook yesterday, fans keen to see the two acts perform together flocked to pledge cash to the band’s cause.

Some web users described the singing star’s choice of venue as “intriguing” and “weird” - but others wished her good luck.

After shooting to fame as an 11-year-old with an appearance on an ITV talent show in 1997, the singer from Cardiff sold more than 10 million records worldwide.

In 2005 she released a pop album which spawned four hits and later she hosted a popular chat show on Channel 4.

In recent years she has given birth to two children and split up with rugby ace Gavin Henson.
