Weather warning on major Sussex roads

High winds and heavy rain is expected to cause problems on roads in Sussex this evening.

Highways bosses have urged those travelling are urged to check weather forecasts and road conditions before making their journeys.

The Met Office has issued an amber alert that strong winds are expected with gusts up to 50mph.

The Highways Agency, which operates and maintains the major routes in the county, has urged caution on the A26 between Lewes and Newhaven and the A27 between Pevensey and Portsmouth, which includes the Shoreham flyover.

A spokesman added those areas close to the coast are particularly vulnerable to strong gusts.

As someone said recently "The drought's going well then". Are Southern Water going to remove the restrictions soon.

Yes, the Shoreham Flyover in between Pevensey and Portsmouth. Ten out of ten for geography.
