Man almost loses ear in Brighton street machete attack

A man suffered a severe cut to his ear after being attacked in the street by a man wielding a machete.

The victim suffered a deep cut to his ear and cuts to his neck after being attacked in Madeira Drive, Brighton at just before 4.30am this morning.

The victim was with a group of friends when he was attacked by a man carrying a 2ft long weapon.

He was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital where he is set to undergo an operation on his ear today.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on GBH charges and has been bailed by police.
