Two lanes closed following A23 northbound smash

Two lanes have been closed following an accident on the A23 northbound this morning (June 19).

Traffic is moving slowly around the Handcross Hill area with two of the A23’s three lanes closed around a mile before the start of the M23.

The smash happened between Handcross Hill B2110 (Handcross) and J11 of the M23 (Pease Pottage) this morning.

The sooner the road works get rid of this bottleneck the better.

Is there a reason the M23 doesn't come all the way to Brighton?

A ladder which must have fallen off the back of something was strewn across two lanes which is was the most likely cause.

If it's the three-lane section it is north of the (in)famous bends that are to be removed!

Motorways are the safest roads in the country and tend to ease other routes, they also allow variable speeds to be enforced easily when there is trouble

Motorways may be the safest but the majority of drivers are the stupidest.

I think it's more a case of just widening it and improving visability TA not straightening it.
