5:54pm Friday 29th June 2012 in News By Ben James
A Worthing cyclist who suffered serious head injuries following a hit and run on Monday (June 25) is expected to be released from hospital in the next few days.
The 25-year-old man was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, following the incident in South Street, West Tarring, at 11.30pm.
A 36-year-old man from Worthing was arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
He was questioned and later bailed until August 7.
PC Karen Whitehouse, from West Sussex Road Policing Unit, said: "Thankfully, the injured cyclist is recovering from this very nasty experience.
“We are still particularly keen to trace the drivers of a maroon 4X4 car and a silver Fiat 500, which were being followed by the offending vehicle at the time of the incident.
“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting Op Alderholt."
