Thief takes wallet from elderly couple after tricking way into Bexhill home
A man stole from an elderly couple after asking to enter their home for a glass of water.
The couple in their seventies answered the door at their home in Bancroft Road in Bexhill at about 4.30pm on Saturday, June 30 to a man asking for a drink.
Once inside he stole a wallet, which contained a small amount of cash and some personal cards, from a bedroom drawer before fleeing on foot towards the Downs.
He is described as white, in his late 20s, 5ft 7ins to 6ft tall, of medium build, and clean shaven with medium brown hair.
He was wearing a brown hat with a wide cricket style brim and a short sleeved blue polo shirt and trousers.
Detective Constable Anton Alfonso said; "We want to speak to anyone who has seen this man, and in particular a couple we understand were walking their dog in the adjacent alleyway at the time. Please contact us via 101 quoting serial 1278 of 30/06. You can also contact independent charity Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.
"We remind residents to continue to be very cautious at home when approached by strangers. If in doubt, keep them out."
