Police hunt bike and meat thief

Police are hunting a hooded thief who they believe stole a bicycle and numerous joints of meat from a garage.

The incident took place sometime between June 30 and July 3 at a property in Ellasdale Road, Bognor.

A police spokesperson said: "On the evening of July 1, the homeowner heard a noise outside and saw a person wearing a grey hooded top standing by a neighbouring wall.

“When her partner looked out a few seconds later the person was gone.

"A few days later they discovered their three gear Raleigh bicycle had gone along with a quantity of meat from a chest freezer.

"Please call 101 quoting serial 1227 of 3/7 if you have any information that could help police with their enquiries. “Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Perhaps I've been reading too much H.P. Lovecraft, but it does strike me that this hood could have been the concealing grotesque unspeakable physiognomy of a shape which we might scarely dare to call human. A thing which hungers unceasingly for raw meats, gnawing them and tearing at the butchered flesh, gorging itself with deplorable hunger on what once walk through green fields. And those who recall the frenzied diaries of old Mrs Johnson the blind window who lived in that ghastly cottage in the old village of Stanmer in the 1930s, will know only too well her anguishing scribblings regard the thing that hungered and it unnatural bicycling ways.
