Brighton traffic jams after woman driver falls ill at the wheel

A car blocked a busy road junction in Brighton when its woman driver fell ill at the wheel.

Police reported long queues after the red Vauxhall Astra car stopped at the junction of Old Shoreham Road and Dyke Road at about 4.45pm.

South East Coast Ambulance Service said a woman in her 40s was found unconscious at the wheel.

Paramedics were still working at the scene at 5.15pm.

Don't joke - someone probably will...they'll say it was the strain of a cycle lane or something...

And then they'll demand all women be banned from driving. Well, "it's a point of view..."

Or the heartless Greens will say it wouldn't have happened if she chose gods mode of transport which is the bicycle as it doesn't not harm his beautifully manicured garden.

Why the emphasis on it being a woman driver? Argus reporters are neanderthal blockheads.

As was a female driver then it was a statement of "FACT" to say it was a woman! I hope the Lady makes a full recovery!

Though I agree that the driver being a woman may be considered as superfluous information, I must concur with Dirk Von Roden. It is fact.

It is silly to say that there was an emphasis on the driver being a woman. You might as well say the report should not mention "driver" in case other drivers might be offended.

Does God ride a bike, then?

Anyway, we all know girlies can't ride bikes. As the old saying goes;

"A woman needs a bicycle like a man needs a fish."

The fact that the driver was a woman is not necessary to the headline. "Brighton traffic jams after male driver falls ill at the wheel" sounds a little odd in my opinion. That the driver was female is secondary information that should be included in the report, not the headline. Hope she gets better soon.

Ah ... so it is the layout you object to rather than the information ;)
