Petworth pensioner in final of national photography competition

A pensioner is celebrating after reaching the finals of a national photography competition.

David Cole, 71, beat 3,600 entrants to be named as one of six finalists in the Prince’s Countryside Fund’s Life in the Country competition.

Mr Cole’s photograph, entitled “Secret Countryman”, took first prize in the wildlife category of the competition winning him £500.

Mr Cole, a former national newspaper photographer from Petworth, said: “I spent over 50 years as a photographer and I’m still doing it for fun.”

A public vote to pick an overall winner runs until July 16. to vote visit www.greatbritishlife.co.uk.
