Rider falls off moped in wet conditions

A man was lucky to escape with minor injuries after falling off his moped in slippery conditions this morning (July 10).

He was riding down Lewes Road when he came off outside Moulsecoomb Library at 10.35am.

An eyewitness said that the rider, who is in his 30s, had appeared to come off in the wet conditions.

A police spokeswoman added that the man escaped serious injuries and that no other vehicles were involved.

Ben Parsons, I want to ask you sincerely: is this story a joke?

Whatever the case, I hope it is the first in a series:
"Girl narrowly avoids tripping on loose paving stone"
"Boy, 7, trips on own shoelace"
"Women accidentally gets lemon juice in eye" and particularly "Man gets horribly splashed by puddle".

Typical sarcastic reply you expect on here. Ok its not the most world stopping news but as long as hes ok , isn't it nice to read that he escaped unhurt rather than killed which is what happens a lot to motorcyclists

Then again, it is sad that he didn't take road conditions into account whilst using his moped. Sadly symptomatic of the less aware driver.

I suspect it's more symptomatic that Ben Parsons "Nose For Crime" has to submit a certain number of words of copy per week before he's allowed to slink off down the boozer.

One sympathises with the moped rider, but really! Does this "story" really justify column inches in a paper that is internationally owned and whose website is read around the world?

After all, who was he? What were his injuries? How do we know that it it happened?

And was the scooter OK, or was it nicked while he was picking himself up?

It is a public interest piece because people will want to know why the emergency services were there.
Its the only excitement some people get...

There were lots of emergency vehicles in Cheapside just before 9am this morning but no mention on the local radio stations and the Argus didn't provide any detail.

Were they having a practice for the Olympic Torch crowds?
