A fire in a residential street has left the road temporarily closed.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue confirmed it had sent two engines to the blaze in Brodrick Road, Eastbourne.

No persons were reported inside the building at the time, with the fire happening at about 4.30pm.

The road has been closed between Henfield Road and Lindfield Road as a traffic control measure.

Why did East Surrey Fire and Rescue send two engines? Must take a couple of hours to get to Eastbourne in the rush hour.
