good job he wasnt seriously injured, taken to rsch brighton, whats wrong with eastbourne general 10 minutes down the road instead of brighton 20-25 minutes away even the conquest in hastings is probaly closer.

They brought him to the RSCH at brighton as it's now the major trauma centre for the region. It means every speciality is on site in one hospital incase it's needed. Smaller hospitals like Eastbourne do not have every speciality on site hence once proper diagnostic tests had been carried out if it were found that an intervention was needed it could be carried out asap rather than awaiting transfer to another site.

    A good decision I think."

Teenager injured in hit and run collision

A teenager was seriously hurt after being hit by a car shortly after he left a party.

The accident happened outside the May Garland pub in Chiddingly Road, Horam early this morning.

The driver of the light coloured 4x4 style vehicle stopped, got out and looked at the injured boy but drove off before emergency services arrived.

The 17-year-old was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Police say he had left a party at a nearby house shortly before the collision at 3.15am.

Sergeant Dan Pitcher of the Sussex Police Road Policing Unit said: "We are keen to speak with the driver of the vehicle or anyone who may have witnessed the collision.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101.
