Man denies Brighton flat murder

A man has pleaded not guilty to murdering a father of four who is believed to have been stabbed to death at a Brighton flat.

Carlo Dawes is accused of killing Graham Pethard, 37, at a flat in Taunton Road, during the early hours of May 5.

Mr Pethard, from Liverpool, suffered serious injuries police believe were caused by a six-inch kitchen knife.

Paramedics were called to the property but were unable to save his life and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dawes, 34, of Taunton Road, who is in custody, appeared at Lewes Crown Court today.

The case was adjourned for trial at the same court on October 22.
