Road closed in Rottingdean after near collapse of school building

A school was left in danger of collapsing after a window was removed.

Fire fighters were called to St Aubyns School in Steyning Road, Rottingdean, at about 11am today (July 27) after glass fitters removed a large window leaving the building precariously crumbling.

The school which was empty because of the school holidays did not have to be evacuated, but Steyning Road is due to reopen at 11.30am once the structure is safe.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue crews left after about half an hour after shoring up the building.

I thought the school was in the High Street. Is there another part which is in Steyning Road?

Yes, there is a building called The Lodge in Steyning Road which is part of the school.

Are we to understand that the building is supported by a window?
