Later licence bid for Brighton night club
8:20am Saturday 4th August 2012 in News
A night club with a history of noise complaints wants to open until 6am for a one-off event.
Audio in Marine Parade, Brighton, plans to host its Warehouse club night on August 11.
It has applied to Brighton and Hove City Council for a temporary event licence which would give it permission to put back its closing time from 4am to 6am.
The application said: “We have been given the opportunity to showcase a number of DJs from a top record label.
“Due to the number of DJs we require to open later.”
However Sussex Police has opposed the plans adding a noise abatement notice was served on the club earlier this year.
It added residents are still complaining about being disturbed by music from the basement venue.
A decision will be made at a hearing of Brighton and Hove City Council ’s licensing panel on Thursday, August 9 in Brighton Town Hall at 10am.

Its been a nightclub for years and what difference will it really make if it closes at 6am rather than 4am?
Its ridiculous that the Police/Council have served a noise abatement notice on them.
Audio has a right to survive the overdevelopment around it as the Council will just bow to 1 complainant and cause Audio a problem.
They closed the Free Butt essentially because of 1 person complaining.
Look at the bigger picture and let many people enjoy themselves.
