A man accused of stabbing a pregnant woman has had his case adjourned.

Labourer Shahid Mahmood is accused of attempting to murder Stacey Clarke, 23, at a house in The Parade, Northgate, Crawley, on May 28.

Mahmood, of The Parade, was due to enter a plea at Lewes Crown Court yesterday (August 3) but the case was adjourned until September 5 to the same court.

Miss Clarke, also of Crawley, suffered life-threatening injuries when she was knifed four times in the neck and upper body.

She went to hospital in London when she underwent operations and spent time in intensive care.
