Dive into a good book with Story Lab in East Sussex this summer

Eager readers have been urged to get into libraries for a string of summer events.

Story Lab is taking place across libraries in East Sussex as part of the Summer Reading Challenge.

The events are aimed at children aged between four and 11 and children who complete six books from the library.

There’s a Story Lab model and stickers to keep track of the fun and a medal for those who finish.

Tony Freebody, East Sussex County Council’s lead member for community services, said: “There are loads of free Story Lab events in libraries right across East Sussex during August and September – such as superhero workshops, Munglers Trumps tournaments, craft sessions and magic shows.

“Just go to www.eastsussex.

gov.uk/readingchallenge to find an event near you.

“We’ve already had some really good feedback from people who have joined the Reading Challenge.

“One mum in Eastbourne told us it was the first time her son had said he was going upstairs to read, and a child in Hastings said she wanted to stay up all night to finish her book.

“Story Lab is a fun way to encourage children to love books and become confident readers.

“Last year, thousands of children took part and completed the challenge and we’re hoping that Story Lab will be just as popular.”
