A sell-out crowd was expected this afternoon as Albion took on Chelsea in the biggest of their pre-season friendlies.

Fans outside the American Express Community Stadium could not hide their excitement as the Seagulls took on the winners of the Champions League.

Darren Perrin was there with his sons Jack, 16, Tom, 15, and daughter Charlotte, 13.

He said: "It is brilliant after having Liverpool and Newcastle last year to have Chelsea this time.

"It is good for a club on the up."

He added he was looking forward to seeing the new signings play.

Ian Roxborough and Dave Bretthammer from Eastbourne were both looking forward to seeing how the Seagulls fared.

Ian said: "It is good to see how the players are getting on.

"It is great to have Chelsea down here especially for a club that is going forward."

But those looking forward to seeing John Terry face off against former team-mate Wayne Bridge were left disappointed as the club revealed Bridge would not be playing.

The left back has failed to overcome an injury and did not even make the substitute bench.

No News on the 15+ police cars at the station that kept people inside a pub yesterday and scared a load of tourists on their way home?
