Two charged following attack outside Worthing nightclub which left man critically ill

A man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent following an attack which left a man critically ill.
John Beddows, 23, is accused of attacking the unnamed 49-year-old who was set upon outside Illusions nightclub in Railway Approach, Worthing, during the early hours of Friday.
Unemployed Beddows, of East Ham Road, Littlehampton, has been remanded in custody to appear at Chichester Crown Court on October 19.
Lynda Smith, 30, of Beaumont Park, Littlehampton, has been charged with a public order offence. She will appear before Worthing Magistrates’ Court on August 20.
The victim, from Worthing, remains in St Richards Hospital in a critical condition after suffering serious head injuries.
DC Laura Sinden said: "Police are keen to talk with anyone who witnessed the assault just after 3am on Friday or had been at the Illusions nightclub that night.
“We would particularly like to talk to a woman, with dark hair and wearing a long flowery dress, who may be able to help us with our enquiries.”
