Smash EDO has announced it is taking a summer holiday.
The group, which campaigns to close the EDO weapons components factory in Brighton, has just finished its three-month “Summer of Resistance”.
Since May the group has staged marches, demonstrations, workshops and other events to highlight what it says are the company’s illegal activities. The company, based in Home Farm Road, Moulsecoomb, denies breaking the law controlling arms production.
Several people are awaiting court hearings following arrests at a “citizens’ weapons inspection” on July 16.
In a statement on the activists’ news website Indymedia, the group said: “We are taking a break in August, but will be back in September with lots of energy for a winter season of resistance against the arms trade.”
