Brighton hit and run victim: ''Help me find those who left me for dead.'

INJURED: Michelle Greest in hospital INJURED: Michelle Greest in hospital

A woman has begged for help to catch the men who knocked her down and left her for dead.

Michelle Greest, from Hove, is still in hospital with a broken back after she was knocked down by a stolen car which police believe was involved in a ram raid.

Bravely speaking out, the 28-year-old said: “Someone somewhere knows who was driving the car that hit me and did not stop. I don’t know how anyone can do such a thing – knock a human being down and just drive on.

“I have suffered ten breaks to various bones in my body which include my legs, hips and vertebrae and will not be able to walk properly for some time.

“Doctors have told me I had two blood clots on my brain and that I am lucky to have not suffered brain damage.

“Luckily I was with people who were able to call an ambulance and get me the urgent medical help that I needed.

“What’s to stop them doing the same thing again? Their next victim may not be as lucky as me.”

Ms Greest was knocked down as she crossed Kings Road in Brighton at about 4.45am on Sunday, July 15 after a night out. She was taken to Hurstwood Park Neurosciences Centre in Haywards Heath with serious head injuries.

Detective Sergeant Leon Ryan, who is leading the investigation said: “I am determined to find those responsible and I would urge anyone who has information that could help us with the investigation to please contact us as soon as possible. We need to get justice for Michelle.”

Detectives believe the Passat that hit Michelle was used a short time later in a ram raid at a wood flooring shop in Trafalgar Road, Portslade.

The car was later found abandoned in Amherst Crescent, Hove.

A white Vauxhall Corsa was stolen from Amherst Crescent and seen at the same flooring shop at around 6.23am on the same day.

On that occasion two men were seen loading up the car with pallets of oak flooring and driving off towards Victoria Park. The Corsa was found abandoned the following day in Hartington Road, Brighton.

Police have released CCTV pictures of two men loading the Corsa at the shop who they would like to speak to over the incidents.

On Sunday the Wood Flooring Centre was burgled for a third time.

Anyone who recognises the men in the CCTV or has any information about the thefts should call Sussex Police on 101.

This poor poor woman! She is so lucky to be alive with such serious injuries. People who can do such a thing and not even to stop and see if they've just killed someone are sick individuals indeed. I hope she makes a full recovery.xx

Why dont the police use facebook to spread the word, with a photo of the cctv still asking if anyone in the local area knows of anyone whose recently had a new Oak floor layed, cant be that many around town.

Michelle, I hope you make a speedy and full recovery. I hope the culprits are soon caught, but sadly with the UK Justice and Political system, if they are from any kind of minority group or have had a slightly difficult time during childhood, they will NOT be brought to justice but pitied for their unfortnuate lot in life.

Poor young lady. I hope the evidence and any leads bring those responsible to justice who are clearly nasty little toads.

Get well soon Michelle! If they find the b......s that did this, they should throw away the key,but probably get a couple of years in prison, and a couple of years ban when they are released, that's if they even had a license.Best wishes for the future Michelle, you have a long way to go,but you will get there.x

Lets hope she has a full recovery and they catch the driver, I did wonder how the picture and statement of a broken back fitted together as my minds eye had her in traction..

Neither man is wearing gloves...any news on DNA or Fingerprints? How about putting this out on Social media Sites instead of Witness Details then?

Michelle is a former Home Help of mine. She has run in the Brighton Marathon (has fabulous legs), and is one of the gentlest, nicest of people you could meet.

Last time I saw Michelle was for a goodbye hug on my doorstep as she went off for a year of world travel after she had finished her City College course, qualifying as a Massage practitioner.

I've been so very saddened by what has happened to her. But so glad she WILL recover....in time.
