Big Screen gets set for closing ceremony
After two weeks of glorious sporting action, Brighton’s Big Screen (BBS) is gearing up for the closing ceremony.
The open-air cinema will be showing the entirety of the much anticipated event which is titled a Symphony of British Music.
Entry to Sunday night’s beachfront spectacle is free with spaces inside the seating area on a first come first served basis. As with the opening ceremony, latecomers will be able to view the action from the beach near the West Pier.
A BBS spokeswoman said: “It’s set to be an unbelievable event and one that really shouldn’t be missed.
“The atmosphere at the opening ceremony was fantas- tic and I’m sure it will be the same again.”
The show, which will include 4,100 performers, including 3,500 volunteers and 380 schoolchildren, is a celebration of British music.
Although the line-up has been kept top secret, among the acts rumoured to be appearing are The Who, Spice Girls, One Direction and Brighton and Hove’s very own Fatboy Slim.
The 300 sq ft LED screen, which is located across from the Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel, has been visited by thousands across the two weeks.
There will be a bar on site selling beer, wine and cocktails along with popcorn, sweets and o t h e r snacks. T h e s p o k e sw o m a n added: “It has been extremely popular and we have had some fantastic moments down here.”
The Sunday night event will also feature the ceremonial handing over of the torch to 2016 hosts Rio de Janeiro. Coverage starts at 7.30pm with the show beginning at 9pm.

I went there the other day and really liked it. Although I thought the fact I could drink my mountain dew in there a bit draconian. The bouncers seems to love to make you queue for no real reason. I think the beers they are selling, which they blatantly just buy from a supermarket at about £3.50 a can is bloody criminal. Talk about profiteering. I dont mind paying that for a draught pint but a can from a multi park that is about 300 per cent over priced is a bit disgusting to be honest.
Another point is they showed Dirty dancing at the same time that team G.B were wining medals, Good to see they got there priorities right!
I thought it was there to show the olympics, not films that are over twenty years old.

I had a really nice draught pint for £3.50 which is the same price as most pubs in town.
