AN ANNUAL summer course for young singers will be held in Durham later this month.
The Royal School of Church Music’s (RSCM) week-long course for members of its Millennium Youth Choir will be in Durham from Monday to next Sunday.
Participants will sing at the cathedral’s daily choral evensong services, at 5.15pm; except on Thursday, when they will give a free 3pm concert in St Mary’s Church, on Lindisfarne, in Northumberland. There will also be a concert in Elvet Methodist Church, Durham, next Friday at 7.30pm. Tickets, available on the door, are £5 for adults, £4 for concessions and £1 for under 18s. Music performed will date from the 16th century to the present day and include Let Thine Heart Keep My Commandments by Owain Park, a choir member and organ scholar at Wells Cathedral.
