Husband pays tribute to woman who drowned at Camber Sands

The distraught husband of a woman who drowned at Camber Sands has spoken of his grief.

Ajmal Gill, from Thornton Heath, London, says he will always remember “laughing, wonderful gorgeous” Tanzeela Ajmal, who died after getting into trouble in shallow waters on July 28.

The 32-year-old said: “I loved her so much, and she loved me even more.”

His 29-year-old wife, a nurse, had joined him just two months ago having moved from Pakistan.

He had settled in south London in 2010 but following a delay Tanzeela only arrived on June 2 this year.

The couple were on holiday with friends from their local church when the tragedy happened.

The group were dragged under water by a suspected rip current while paddling on the beach in Camber Sands.

Tanzeela was pulled out of the water unconscious by a member of the public and taken by ambulance to Royal Sussex County Hospital .

Ajmal had also gone to hospital after swallowing water and awoke to discover his wife was in a critical condition.

But she never woke up and was pronounced dead the following Wednesday.
